What is the Mini-invasive interaural communication

It is an ear closure surgery performed through minimally invasive procedures.

Description of the procedure

Minimally invasive surgery to close the auricular communication is performed through a small incision of 4 to 6 cm in the lateral wall of the right hemithorax, in the submammary line of the skin. Specific instruments are used to perform this minimally invasive surgery, it is a safe procedure in which the most advanced techniques are applied to close the ASD either by direct suture or with the placement of a pericardium patch.

In the case of sinus venous ASD, the surgery is more complex, being possible to perform a mini-invasive and even robotic approach.

Patient recovery is faster and patients report less postoperative pain and an early return to their daily and professional activities.

The duration of a mini-invasive atrial communication surgery is normally 120 minutes. Patients are discharged after 4 to 6 days.
