What is the VATS uniportal lung cancer

Uniportal lobectomy is a minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of lung cancer.

Description of the procedure

UMICS surgeons are pioneers in the endoscopic technique that revolutionized thoracic surgery – Single Incision Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (Single Port technique or SiVATS).

It is performed through an incision of just 3 cm where it is possible to reach any part of the lung and remove the lymph nodes necessary to treat the disease through a Single Port Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (Single Port technique or SiVATS, Single Incision Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery).

With the help of specific minimally invasive surgery instruments and high definition and 3D imaging systems, when available, the surgery lasts approximately two hours. Performed close to the costal arches, it provides a postoperative period with a significant decrease in pain, faster recovery and excellent aesthetic results.

The duration of a uniportal lung cancer lobectomy is usually two hours and patients are discharged after 1 to 3 days.
