What is the Video-Assisted Uniportal Surgery

UMICS surgeons are pioneers in the endoscopic technique that revolutionized thoracic surgery – Single Incision Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (Single Port technique or SiVATS).

Description of the procedure

This oncological surgery is performed through an incision of just 3 cm where it is possible to reach any part of the lung and remove the lymph nodes necessary to treat the disease with the help of specific minimally invasive surgery instruments and high-definition and 3D imaging systems, when available. The surgery lasts approximately two hours, is performed close to the ribs and provides a postoperative period with a significant reduction in pain, faster recovery and excellent aesthetic results.

Usually the hospitalization time lasts between 1 to 3 days, with a week off.
