WHAT IS INTERAURICULAR COMMUNICATION THROUGH mini invasive and robotic surgery?
It is an ear closure surgery performed using minimally invasive procedures.
Description of the procedure
Minimally invasive atrial septal defect closure surgery is performed through a small 4 to 6 cm incision in the lateral wall of the right hemithorax, in the submammary skin line. Specific instruments are used to perform this minimally invasive surgery. It is a safe procedure in which the most advanced techniques for closing the ASD are applied, either by direct suturing or by placing a pericardial patch.
In the case of sinus venosus type ASD, the surgery is more complex and can be performed using a mini-invasive or even robotic approach.
Patient recovery is faster and patients report less post-operative pain and an early return to their daily and professional activities.
The duration of mini invasive interauricolar communication surgery is around 120 minutes. Patients are discharged after 4 to 6 days in hospital.
They are expected to return to work after 3 weeks of rest. Moderate physical activity, on the other hand, can take place one month after surgery, in a regular situation and without any extraordinary occurrences.
