It is a minimally invasive surgery to repair the mitral valve, performed through a small incision of 4 to 6 cm in the lateral wall of the right hemithorax, in the submammary line of the skin.
In this minimally invasive surgery, specific instruments are used, being a safe procedure in which the most advanced mitral valve repair techniques are applied, with a repair rate of 85% of cases.
In the case of mitral valve replacement by a mechanical or biological prosthesis, this minimal-incision approach can also be applied. At the end of the procedure, the skin incision is closed with an intradermal suture with excellent aesthetic results.
Patient recovery is faster and patients report less postoperative pain and an early return to their daily and professional activities.
The duration of a mitral valve replacement surgery is normally 150 minutes. Patients are discharged after 4 to 6 days.
Regarding work activity, after XX days the patient will be able to return to work. Normally, full mobility recovery is at the end of XX and moderate physical activity at XX.
